Athletics Philosophy
The philosophy of the
Athletic Section of the Greensboro Parks Recreation
Department is to create a positive environment for
youth and adults

By emphasizing each
individual’s rights to participate

By teaching life skills,
good sportsmanship and game fundamentals

By stressing fun and
enjoyment above all
Key Point to Remember
In order to register,
parents must have the following:

The child’s birth
certificate (original or legible copy)
-
A PAYS card (legible and
valid)
-
Completed registration
card

COLLECTED BY EACH SITE DIRECTOR --
Registration fees are
collected to offset the cost of officials,
equipment, etc.

The youth football program
is divided into skill levels of Varsity and Junior
Varsity. These levels are within Pee Wee and Mite
age groups if numbers permit

Pee Wees are 7-9 years old
on or before October 16, and can not exceed 125
lbs.(with equipment) No exceptions!

Mites are 10-12 years old
on or before October 16, and can not exceed 145
lbs.(with equipment) No exceptions!
Note: Players are not
allowed to participate in this Parks & Recreation
youth football program if they are playing organized
school football.

Every team and each
individual who plans to play must weigh in before
each game.

Legal residence is defined
as that listed by the school that the player
attends.

Practices are limited to 4
days (8hours max. per week) in the preseason. Once
actual games begin, practices are limited to 3
days (4.5 hours max. per week).

REVIEW THE GUIDELINES IN THE BY-LAWS --

No practice will be
allowed prior to Monday, August 2nd. On August 2nd
coaches can start conditioning ONLY – no contact!
Helmets and mouthpieces are strongly encouraged
for all practices! All players, organizations, and
recreation centers should have water available at
each practice.
Note: If players are unsure
if they are interested in playing school or
recreational football, they are
STRONGLY encouraged to
register during June 3rd – June 30th.
Please notify the Athletic
office immediately if your child will play for a
school team! |
